Goofy Animals

The animals are always doing things that make us laugh…

Hagrid is one of our guardian dogs for our sheep and goats but his best friend is Tom, one of the many stray cats who has made our farm his home.  Many times we look outside and Tom is doing “happy feet” while blissfully purring into the long hair of Hagrid’s belly.  Judah is one of our other cats who occasionally hangs out with the lambs or tries to cram himself into the smallest available object around the house.

Noel is our donkey who is very maternal toward the baby animals.  Here she is checking out twin kids while Jezzy (the big white nose in the top picture) one of our other guardian dogs, looks on.

After a good rain the pigs love digging up earthworms that come up to the surface, Beulah, the sow here throws dirt vigorously while sniffing them out.  Even though our young pigs see us every day, they still like to act startled and take off for fun when we get close.  They make a funny, deep “wuh! wuh!” sound that is very similar to a dogs bark when they are startled.  It is hilarious when an entire herd or group of piglets takes off across the hill barking.
