Mom’s Amazing Brisket

This recipe is my mom’s and has always been one of my favorites.  I have never had a brisket anywhere as good as hers.

1 grass-fed brisket–this recipe is written for a large brisket, about 6 lbs.  Our briskets are more in the 3-4 lbs range so reduce the cooking time if necessary.

Marinade

2 4 oz jars liquid smoke

1/2 cup soy sauce (look for sauce without MSG)

2/3 cup Worcestershire sauce

3 Tbsp minced garlic

Black pepper

Mix and place in a turkey sized browning bag with the brisket.  Marinate in the refrigerator for 12 hours with the fat side down.  Cook in a 250 F oven for 6-8 hours with fat side up (6 hours for a small brisket).  Ladle off excess fat, slice and serve in the juice.  Do me a favor and make a batch of mashed potatoes when you cook this, this sauce/gravy is the best ever on mashed potatoes–I’m starting to drool thinking about it :)
